Mrs. A. Barbara (Fitzpatrick) MacDonald, a resident of Wakefield, passed away on Monday evening, August 31, 2009 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital following a period of declining health.She was 89 years old. Mrs. MacDonald was born on October 22, 1919 in Melrose, a daughter of the late Austin Fitzpatrick and Maryann (O'Neill) Fitzpatrick.She was raised in Melrose and lived most of her married life in Malden and Wakefield.Barbara was the beloved wife of the late John H. MacDonald Sr..Devoted mother of John H. MacDonald, Jr. and his wife Janet of Stoneham, Roderick A. MacDonald and his wife Phyllis of Wakefield, and Michael A. MacDonald and his wife Ann of Buzzards Bay.Dear sister of the late Mary Ann Fitzpatrick, Albert Fitzpatrick, Gerald Fitzpatrick, Patrick Fitzpatrick, Claire Malenchini, Dermot Fitzpatrick, M. Madelyn Wright, John Fitzpatrick and H. Stanley Fitzpatrick.Cherished grandmother of Tracy D. MacDonald, Scott J. MacDonald, Craig S. MacDonald, Cara M. MacDonald, Kathleen A. MacDonald, Kelly A. Alley and the late Todd M. MacDonald.Loving great grandmother of Megan E. Alley.

Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE on Tuesday, September 8 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor and remembrance of Barbara's life in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.Gifts in her memory may be made to American Heart Association,20 Speen St., Framingham 01701.
