Mrs. Adeline J. "Addie" (Lally) Thistle, of Middleton, formerly of Andover, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 71.
Adeline, lovingly known as "Addie" was born in East Boston, one of three children of the late Walter F. and Julia (Mazzarino) Lally.She spent her childhood in the Orient Heights section of East Boston, and at age 11 moved to Melrose where she graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1961.Addie was the oldest of three and enjoyed summers with her parents and siblings in Westford and later at Humarock Beach in Scituate.
On September 17, 1972, she married Edward W. Thistle, settling in Andover to have three children, Edward, Todd, and Courtney. Family was the center of Addie's life and she cherished any time spent with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She kept herself busy providing a loving home for her children and grandchildren.Always sociable and outgoing, Addie was a regular host for lively family gatherings and had an open door and plenty of food for her family and friends.
In her free time, she enjoyed vacationing in Aruba or Florida with her husband Eddie. She was a shopping lover, and often found herself redecorating the house after a day of shopping.Addie was very generous, caring, loved talking to people, and always thought it was better to give than to receive. She would go browsing for a bargain at the mall and would always find a reason to buy a gift for someone she loved. She will be forever remembered and her kind and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family.
Addie was the beloved wife of Edward W. Thistle with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Edward S. Thistle of Middleton, Todd T. Thistle of Middleton, and Courtney J. Thistle of W. Peabody. Loving sister of Paula O'Brien of Haverhill, and Robert Lally of Andover.Cherished "Nanny" of Piper Blazonis and Jake Thistle. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives & friends will gather in honor of Addie's life during visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, September 23 from 4-8pm, and again on Thursday morning for her Funeral Service celebrated at 10am.Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
