Mr. Albert J. Rochon, a longtime Melrose resident, passed away on Saturday evening, July 3, 2010 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a period of declining health.He was 72 years old.
Albert was born in Cambridge, MA on March 27, 1938, one of four children of the late Aime Rochon and Alma (Babin) Rochon.
Mr. Rochon was raised and educated in Cambridge and settled in Melrose in 1961 with his wife, Susan.Albert or "Al" as he was well known, worked in sales for Dole Publishing and the Rupert Murdoch Corporation. Al was a longtime parishioner at Most Blessed Sacrament Church where he was a CCD teacher, an usher and past president of the Holy Name Society.He was also a two time past Exultant Ruler of the Melrose Elks Club.
Al was the beloved husband of Susan A. (Stockbridge) Rochon with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.Devoted father of David A. Rochon of Melrose and Michelle Rochon-Sorrenti of Melrose.Dear brother of Robert A. Rochon of Woburn, Lorraine Zalesky of Northampton, and the late Edward Rochon.Cherished grandfather of Christopher M. Sorrenti and Nicholas M. Sorrenti.Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Melrose on Monday, July 12 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in honor and remembrance of Al's life at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 PM.Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
