Alice "Van" Murray Hanson
She was born on August 16, 1918 in Lynn, one of two children of the late Earl V. Austin and Mary G. (Quinn) Austin. She was raised in Lynn where she graduated from high school.Van was a resident of Lynnfield for 40 years before moving to Melrose where she resided for 19 years.She volunteered for many years at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital where she was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.She loved reading and will always be remembered for telling jokes.
She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford G. Hanson and Lawrence Murray.Devoted mother of Bruce A. Murray and his wife Carol of Harwich, Lindsay W. Niles and her husband Larry of Falmouth, ME, and Hollis H. Acres of Haverhill.Dear sister of the late Frank Austin.Cherished grandmother of 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Van's life for her Graveside Service at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody, on Wednesday, April 11 at 1:00 PM.Gifts in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
