Mr. Andrew Missick, of Medford, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in The E.N. Rogers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford. He was 87.Andrew was born in Boston on January 22, 1922 a son to Russian immigrants, Wladimir and Rose (Puzak) and lived most of his life in Medford. Andrew served as a US Army Medic in the Philippines during WWII.He was a carpenter for the United Carpenter's Union Local 218 in Boston for over 35 years before retiring in 1977.He was a member of the Medford V.F.W. Post #1012 and the Disabled American Veterans. He spent many years working but preferred fishing with his two sons. He was known to many as Brat' and later as Khyber'. Andy will always be known to his fellow fisherman out of Winthrop Harbor as the one who said he would catch the first and biggest fish and he did.His wife of 64 years, Florence B. (Butt) Missick died April 24, 2007. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Olga Maggallett and Peter L. Missick and a son-in-law, William F. Keefe.He leaves his children, Steven A. Missick and his wife Gail of Medford, Peter M. Missick and wife Priscilla Fitzgerald Missick of N. Reading and Denise L. Keefe of Melrose; his former daughter-in-law Joan M. Missick; his sister, Annie Fortunato of Lexington; his grandchildren, Amy and Chris Hannon, Jessie and Noel Camelio, Billy Keefe and his wife, Cheryl, Jon and Theresa Fitzgerald, and Jodi and Matt Simpson; his great-grandchildren Andrew, Isabella, Keely, Jack, Nicole, Lydia, Raya, Alana, Ciara and Irelyn; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Friday, August 14th at 10AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment with military honors presented by the US Army in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 85 Willow St., Malden, MA 02148-5825.
