Angel L. "Tony" Caez, a longtime Malden resident, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at age 72.
Tony was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on February 20, 1952, one of five children of Agustin Caez Velez and the late Ana H. Figueroa. At the young age of 6, Tony along with his family came to the United States to join other family. The family resided in Hackensack, New Jersey where Tony was raised and educated. In 1971, he married his beloved wife Patricia A. Reichert, moving to Cambridge, MA before settling in Malden to raise a family of two children.
Hard working with a mechanical and precise mind, Tony excelled in his work as a machinist. With his strong work ethic over 14 years, he reached the level of experimental machinist before bravely establishing a landscaping business, Paradise Landscape in Malden. With relentless and precise work, Tony operated the business successfully with the help of wife Pat, and served customers with dedication all over the North Suburban Boston area from 1984 through 2023 all while balancing health challenges.
Outside of work, Tony's relentless pursuit of learning was well known. Every hobby sparked a keen new interest to master and share with others. With a great passion and aptitude for computers, Tony built computers part by part and brought his family along for the adventure. He also loved photography, developing his own pictures at home and sharing the hobby with his family. Other hobbies included a DJ business, flying RC helicopters, painting and air brushing, and fixing almost anything.
Tony was always ready and generously willing to help with a project at a moment's notice, as long as someone else "held the flashlight." With a love for being outside, he sought out adventures to take with his grandchildren and his work ethic served as an inspiration to generations of family. A strong-willed family man, Tony persevered through health challenges, all while being independent and dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but always lovingly remembered for his genuine kindness and generous, strong heart. May he rest in eternal peace.
Tony was the loving husband of Patricia A. (Reichert) Caez with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Devoted father of Patricia Micale and her husband John of Haverhill, and Sean Caez and his fiancé Trisha Harrington of Haverhill. Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Kayley, Aidan, Anyssa, and Anastacia. Loving son of Agustin Caez of Orlando, FL and the late Ana Caez of Hackensack, NJ. Dear brother of Carmen Miranda and her husband Jose of Orlando, FL, Agustin Caez of Hackensack, NJ, and the late Victor and Jose Caez. Loving brother-in-law of Fred Reichert and his late wife Leslie of NJ, Dianna Rand and her late husband Steven of NJ, and Donna Sherman and her husband Michael of VA. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Tony's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Melrose, on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 4-7pm, and again on Monday, Sept. 16 for his Funeral Service celebrated at 10am. Interment to follow at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
