Ann M. (Nicolo) Lyons

Mrs. Ann M. (Nicolo) Lyons, a longtime resident of Everett, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Methuen Village, at age 90.

Ann was born in Everett on May 10, 1927, one of three children of the late Lorenzo and Carmella (Fatibene) Nicolo. She was raised in Everett where she graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1945. She then worked at Western Union before her marriage in 1949 to Robert F. Lyons and became a mother. While Bob worked, Ann stayed at home to raise a family of five children. Simply put, Ann loved her family.

Known as "Nan," Ann was happiest when surrounded by her family especially visits with her grandchildren, and later her great-grandchildren. Easy going, Ann was kind to everyone she met, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. All she ever wanted was for her family to be happy, and cared for. Together, Ann and Bob loved dancing, and most of all, taking care of their grandchildren. Throughout life, Ann always remained a positive, steady and reliable presence who treated everyone equally and fairly.

Ann centered her life around the needs of her family. She made every effort to ensure that everyone was happy and the house was well cared for. She found pride in mowing the lawn, shoveling, or doing yard work and never hesitated to tell you about the weather. Trustworthy, patient, and kind, she was everyone's favorite "Nan" and a quiet, well respected matriarch. She was an exceptional listener, and sounding board when needed. Her unconditional love and care will be missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family.

Ann was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Lyons with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Robert J. Lyons and his wife Arlene of Tewksbury, Janet C. Borseti and her husband Rick of Methuen, Barbara A. Lyons of Revere, Thomas E. Lyons of Stoneham, and Stacey A. Lyons of Methuen. Dear sister of the late Leo Nicolo and Domenic Nicolo. Cherished "Nan" of Jeff Lyons, Tim Lyons, Lyndsey Cowan, Kyle Borseti, Evan Borseti, Kristi Lyons, Matt Lyons and Kimberly Lyons. Loving great-grandmother of Brody, Chase, and Mackenzie.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Ann's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 9-11am, followed by her Funeral Service celebrated at 11am. Interment at Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. Gifts in Ann's memory may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Ste 800, Miami, FL 33131.
