Mrs. Anna Rose (Makarevich) Harvey, of Melrose, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Kindred Hospital - North Shore in Peabody following a period of declining health.She was 84 years old.
Anna was born on February 6, 1925 in Chelsea, a daughter of the late Walter Makarevich and Katherine C. (Delansky) Makarevich.
Mrs. Harvey was an ice skating instructor for much of her life.She taught skating at the Hayden Recreation Center in Lexington and was a skating instructor at Boston College for 25 years.She also taught dancing at the Arthur Murray School of Dance in Boston.Anna also worked as a secretary at the Chelsea Navy Hospital, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in the Pathology Department, and at Allied - Instrumentation Laboratories in Bedford.She was a member of the Milano Senior Center and Saugus Senior Center.She cherished her two cats, Boomer and Iris, and was also a great gardener.
Anna was the mother of Gail M. Cassese of Lexington, SC.Grandmother of Jennifer Antley and her husband Ryan of West Columbia, SC and Lisa Cassese of Charleston, SC. Great grandmother of Claire Grace Antley of West Columbia, SC.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Thursday, April 9 at 9 AM followed by a blessing in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 3-5 PM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
