Mrs. Anne M. (Longo) DiCarlo, a Melrose resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at age 85.
Anne was born on August 18, 1927 in Melrose, one of five children of the late Joseph and Rose (Camelia) Longo.Raised in Melrose, she graduated with the Class of 1945 from Melrose High School where she played field hockey and basketball.She married Victor A. DiCarlo and settled in Malden to raise their family of six sons and one daughter.For 30 years, Mrs. DiCarlo enjoyed working on Revere beach in various capacities at Bob's Discount.
Mrs. DiCarlo was an avid reader, loved music and flowers.Her interest in flowers eventually grew from a hobby into her own weekend plant and flower stand which she established outside of Bob's.
Mrs. DiCarlo was devoted to caring for her 7 children and loved watching them play sports growing up.She looked forward to time with her family above anything else, and especially cherished her relationships with her sisters and the many good times they spent together.The close-knit family gathered often for holidays with two kitchens full of family members cooking, talking, and enjoying time with one another.She will be missed but always remembered.
She was the beloved wife of the late Victor A. DiCarlo with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Joseph R. DiCarlo and his wife Michelle, Richard A. DiCarlo, Nancy A. Lessard and her husband Kert, Peter J. DiCarlo, Paul T. DiCarlo, Donald J. DiCarlo and his wife Christina, and the late Victor A. DiCarlo, Jr. Dear sister of Genevieve DiCarlo and her late husband Alfred, Isabelle Adinolfi and her husband Thomas, and the late Beatrice Longo, Anthony Longo and his wife Helen, and Margaret Tierney and her husband Ralph.Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Amanda Sullivan and her husband Ryan, Danielle, Brianna, Kert, Sara, Anthony, and Michael.Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Anne's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, March 13 from 4-8 PM, and again on Thursday morning at 9:00 AM before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
