Arlene J. (Jay) Murphy, 64, died at home on Monday morningFebruary 2, 2004. Arlene was born June 8, 1939 in Charlottetown, PEI, Canada, daughter of the late Daniel R. Jay and Annie M. (Locke) Jay. Mrs. Murphy moved to Melrose from Canada when she was 16 years old and graduated from Melrose High School in 1958.Arlene dearly loved her Melrose community and spent most of her life in Melrose. Arlene was the wife of James E. "Babe" Murphy of Melrose.Mother of Mark M. Murphy and his wife of Cheryl of Salem, Colleen A. Murphy Taitano and her husbandEric R. Taitano,Kerry A. Murphy, James E. Murphy, Jr., Jerry P. Murphy and his wife Susan E. Murphyall of Melrose.Sister of Marilyn Smith of Ottawa, CN.Grandmother of Kaley Murphy, Devin Murphy, Eric Taitano, Alianna Taitano and Emily Murphy. Aunt of Linda Van Santin and Sandra McIntosh both of Canada.Cousin of Bernice Publicover of Fairhaven.Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Friday, Feb. 6 at 8 AM.Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, (corner of Herbert and Myrtle St.), Melrose at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
