Arne E. Johnson
Mr. Johnson was born January 27, 1911 in Stockholm, Sweden, son of the late John E. Johnson and Gerda (Nelson) Johnson.
Arne moved to Melrose in 1935 and lived in the City for 72 years.He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1930 - 1931.He was an Elevator mechanic for Payne Elevator Company for 30 years and was a member of the Swedish Monitor Lodge of Everett. He loved the sport of hockey and played as a young man. He very much loved dogs and cats and enjoyed trips to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Arne was truly a family man and above all else cherished the time he spent with his family.
Arne was the beloved husband of Alice M. (Shaw) Johnson with whom he shared 72 years of marriage. Devoted father of Walter A. Johnson and his wife Laura of Melrose.Cherished grandfather of Walter A. Johnson Jr., Eric E. Johnson, Donna M. Johnson, Denise M. Tebo all of Melrose and the late Brenda A. Johnson. Also lovingly survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
