Mr. Arthur A. Leman, Jr., a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Sunday morning August 23, 2009 at Renaissance GardensBrooksby Village in Peabody following a period of declining health.He was 81 years of age.
Mr. Leman was born on October 4, 1927 in Malden, one of two children to the late Arthur A. Leman and Frances M. (Kieling) Leman.
Mr. Leman was raised and educated in Melrose, graduating from Melrose High School.He was a self-employed Electrical Contractor since 1955 and Wire Inspector for the City of Melrose 1985-1995.He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard during WWII.A longtime member of Trinity Church, he served as vestryman and warden.Mr. Leman was a member and past master of Fidelity Lodge AF&AM and past commander of the American Legion Post #90, Melrose.
Arthur was the beloved husband of Lois L. (Chapman) Leman with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.Devoted father of Arthur A. Leman, III and his wife Lori of Harleysville, PA and Jane A. Flaherty of North Reading and her friend Paul Humphreys of Saugus. Dear brother of the late Ruth A. Vogel. Dear brother in law of Chesley Chapman of TX and the late Clarence T. Neil and William "Bill" Neil. Cherished grandfather of John Leman, Sophia Leman,Robert Flaherty Jr., Andrew Flaherty and Marc Flaherty.
Funeral Service in Trinity Church, 131 West Emerson St., Melrose, Wednesday August 26 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Tuesday 4-8 PM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
