Mrs. Garniss was born in Lowell on December 1, 1933, a daughter of the late Dwight Aldrich and Wilhelmina (Goring) Aldrich.
Janet was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.She was a proud homemaker and bookkeeper for 10 years at her husband's market in Melrose, Lyman's Market.She enjoyed summering in Maine, playing solitaire, and loved Siamese cats.Janet loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be missed by her husband, companion, and best friend of 56 years, Lyman Sr.
Beloved wife of Lyman T. Garniss, Sr. with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Michael P. Garniss of Lynn and his fiancée Susan Butcher, Christopher J. Garniss and his wife Donna of Malden, Elizabeth A. Garniss of Tewksbury, Lyman T. Garniss, Jr. and his wife Sandra of N. Reading, and John W. Garniss of Wakefield.Dear sister of Susan Fransen of Harrison, ME.Cherished grandmother of Michael R. Garniss, Gregory Garniss, Roxianne Vaquevano, Christopher S. Garniss, Angela Hallihan, Tammy Doherty, Alex Steege, James Garniss, Stewart Garniss, and Jake Garniss.Loving great-grandmother of Nicholas Hunt and Colin Hallihan.
