Mrs. Barbara (Gentile) Manganaro, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Mrs. Manganaro was born in Winchester on April 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Addie (Leavitt) Gentile.Barbara was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.She worked part time at Kmart in Saugus and for Moulton Draperies on Corey Street in Melrose.
She enjoyed shopping, collecting baseball cards, and watching the Red Sox.Above all else, Mrs. Manganaro loved her children, and cherished her grandchildren.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Nick Manganaro with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.Devoted mother of John P. Manganaro and his wife Diane of Melrose, and Donna Keefe and her husband Ed of Amesbury.Dear sister of Richard Gentile of FL, and the late Carol, Robert, Shirley, Marion, Lester, Dorothy, Lawrence, Sterl, and Charles. Cherished grandmother of Jonathan Manganaro, Jacquelyn Manganaro, Joshua Manganaro, Jennifer Bushee, Richard Bushee, Michelle Bushee, Edwad Keefe, Ronald Keefe, and Daniel Keefe. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet poodle, "Coco."
Relatives gathered in Barbara's honor at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose where a Funeral Mass was held.Interment was in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.Gifts in honor of Barbara's life may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
