Bernice Beni Bleyle
a resident of Winchester died at home after a long illness on Tuesday March 2, 2004.Bernice was born in Sheridan, Michigan, October 17, 1920, daughter of the late Wilmot McQueen and Laura (Crawford) McQueen.She graduated from St. John's Michigan High School and made her home in several places, finally settling in Winchester. Bernice a divorcee met her widowed husband, Merrill at a "singles group" square dance work shop.Their like interests and background were alike which resulted in marriage that had 23 years of beautiful memories.Her courageous battle with glaucoma and macular degeneration of the eyes and a ten year struggle with cancer ended peaceably at home. Bernice was a beautiful woman, mother, wife, friend, homemaker and confidant who enjoyed sewing and dancing at the Minuteman Squares in Lexington and the Wolfeboro Wranglers in Wolfeboro, NH.She was also a "round dancer and ballroom dancer".With her friendly "mid western" nature, she easily met and made many friends.
Bernice M. "Beni" was the loving wife of Merrill Bleyle.Mother of Deidra E. Cooke of Watertown. Grandmother of Adrienne Sunday of Webster and Leah M. Cooke of Everett, WA.Step-mother of Alan M. Bleyle of Stamford, CT and Corinne J. Rogers of Hopkinton.Step grandmother of Justin M. Rogers of Manchester, CT. Sister of the late Lucille Yankewicz.
Memorial service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Friday March 5 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 PM.Gifts in her memory may be made to Hospice Care Inc., 41 Montvale Ave., Stoneham, MA 02180.
