Beryl (Locke) Brown, long-time resident of Melrose, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital with her family by her side. She was 93.
Beryl was born on September 25, 1930 in Melrose, one of five children of the late Harold C. and Ruth (Brooks) Locke. She grew up in Melrose, graduating from Melrose High School.
She met and later married her beloved Walter A. Brown, and they shared 30 wonderful years together raising their children in Melrose.
Beryl was a proud homemaker. She adored her children and grandchildren and was exceptionally active in their lives. She was a natural care giver with her warm and loving personality. She was always volunteering and helping others. Outside of the home she was a home health aid for a number of years.
She enjoyed trips to Lake Winnipesaukee, watching of the Bruins, of which she was a season ticket holder for a time, the Red Sox, reading, and doing puzzles and word searchers.
Beryl’s love for family and friends, warmth, selflessness, and generosity will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Beryl was the beloved wife of the late Walter A. Brown with whom she shared 30 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Russell “Howie” Brown, Kenneth H. Brown and his wife Linda, and David J. Brown all of Melrose. Dear sister of the late Stanley U. Locke, Marion R. Lichtenstein, Harold B. “Bud” Locke, and Leonard G. Locke. Cherished grandmother of Kenneth A. Brown, Jr., Scott J. Brown, Michael F. Brown, Diane N. Brown, and Adam Brown.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Beryl’s life for visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 9-10am, and for her Funeral Service celebrated at 10am. Private interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Beryl may be made to a charity of your choice.
