Brian T. Areyzaga, resident of Medford, passed away after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer with his family by his side. He was 64 years old.
Born January 14, 1959 in Charlestown, Brian was a son of the late Fredrick and Connie (Richie) Areyzaga. He grew up in Charlestown and Lynn and enjoyed playing hockey.
Brain enlisted in the United States Army in 1979 serving until his Honorable Discharge in 1986 and attaining the rank of Sergeant. He served primarily in South Korea and Berlin, Germany. Brian was exceptionally proud of his service. He was also a member of VFW Post 1012 in Medford.
A hard worker, Brian worked for the MBTA as a Motorman and was the Blue Line Barn Captain for the Boston Carmen's Union Local 589. He was looking forward to retirement.
Outside of work though, family was important in Brian’s life. He adored his wife and dearly loved his daughter. He was very active in their lives. He enjoyed traveling. Some of his favorite places included Arizona, Germany, Italy and South Korea. He followed and loved all the Boston sports teams, especially the Bruins. He enjoyed playing golf and listening to classic rock.
Brian’s presence, love of family, and warm heart will be missed.
Brian was the beloved husband of Aeja (Kwon) Areyzaga with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Devoted father of Karen Areyzaga. Loving brother of Michael Areyzaga, John Areyzaga, and Mary Joanne Gerade.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Brian’s life during visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 4-7pm.
