Aurelia Cancer Foundation."Make checks payable to Joseph C. Aurelia, c/o Attorney Craig Malatesta, 51 Melrose St., #6D, Melrose, MA 02176.Why the Camille F. Aurelia Cancer Foundation? It is the opinion of our family that no person should be told they have a terminal stage 4, no cure, cancer within a sterile examining room with a picture of a diseased cancerous organ to look at while immediately being talked to about radiation, chemotherapy, and clinical experimental trials.First and foremost the patient should be allowed to pause, process and grieve this news of a terminal illness.Types of treatment with no hope of a cure should not be primary within the plan of care for a stage 4 cancer patient.Second, this news should be told by a trained professional who has the ability, desire, and time to deal with a flood of emotions with death at the center.Third, the room should be serene, simple and medically free of equipment. It is my intent that every cancer center in America have a Camille F. Aurelia Cancer Center within the walls of the hospital to treat the whole person and not deal with the disease.Remember there is no cure and death is evident. With that said, deal only with the disease when the individual is ready to be at the center of research.Medicine must learn to treat humans and not solely the disease when the final outcome is death.Hopefully you agree and will help launch this concept into a much needed reality with your donation allowing us to build these serene simple rooms. With appreciation, the family of Camille.
