Mrs. Carole (Crandall) Levy, a resident of Wakefield, passed away surrounded by her family at Bear Hill Nursing Center on Thursday afternoon, February 16, 2012, at the age of 75.
Carole was born on June 1, 1936 in Boston, one of three children of the late Charles and Rita (Yeomans) Crandall.She was raised and educated in Boston.While working in sales in the cosmetic department she was introduced to her future husband Marshall.It quickly became apparent that at least for Marshall, it was love at first sight, and he proposed to her on only their 2nd date.They married on May 23, 1956, and settled in Malden and later, Wakefield to raise their two beloved children.For many years, they enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod in Falmouth at Shoreway Acres.
Carole had a passion for music.She loved to sing and her enthusiasm often times encouraged the whole room to join in with her.She was an incredibly warm, welcoming, and gracious person who had many friends she had known since childhood but was also known to make new friends easily.A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she cherished her family and lived a life full of grace, dignity, and great strength.She touched many lives and will serve as an inspiration for her family forever.
Carole was the beloved wife of Marshall Levy with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Stephen D. Levy and his wife Cynthia of Rockport, and Susan Levy of Salem.Dear sister of Charles Crandall of Roslindale, and Rita Devlin of Quincy.Cherished grandmother of Robert Levy and Theresa Levy both of Rockport.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Carole's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, February 20 from 4-8 PM and again on Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM before leaving in procession to St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment in Ezrath Israel Cemetery, Danvers.
