Carolyn J. Bishop

Carolyn J. (Boyd) Bishop, of Jefferson, NH and formerly longtime of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at age 70.

Carolyn was born in Malden on February 5, 1947, one of four children of the late Preston R. Boyd and Helen (Meagher) Boyd. She was raised in Malden where she graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1965. On May 23, 1970, she was married to John H. Bishop and purchased a property on Park Street in Melrose to build their dream home. They raised a family of two sons on Park Street, proudly calling Melrose home for over 30 years.

During her life, Carolyn worked in a variety of positions but always considered her most important job to be a mother. In her younger years, she worked at the Malden Public Library, then New England Telephone, and later in life as a teller at Melrose Cooperative Bank.

A faithful woman, Carolyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Melrose. After retiring, they moved from Melrose to Jefferson, NH where they enjoyed the beauty of the natural landscape and mountain view. In New Hampshire, she became a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster where she made many friends and enjoyed organizing the Winter Festival for many years.

Carolyn loved animals, especially her beloved dogs, Brandy, Taffy, Scout, Abby, Miles, Katie and most recently Ellie. In her free time, she loved music, quilting, and collecting teddy bears. She was also a passionate quilter and made many beautiful quilts for her children, and grandchildren.

Carolyn will be remembered for her dedication as a mother, her sociable nature, and an ability to make people laugh. With a dry sense of humor and quick wit, she could get a rise out of anyone. She will be missed, but always lovingly remembered.
