Mrs. Carolyn (McLean) Norton, a longtime resident of Melrose, died early Thursday morning, February 19, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose. She was 93 years old.
Carolyn was born on September 12, 1915 in Melrose, one of two children to the late C. Garfield McLean and Elsa (Parkhurst) McLean.
Mrs. Norton worked for many years as the Secretary to the Melrose Superintendent of Schools for both Harold Rand and Dr. Quinn.She was a very active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Melrose Council on Aging.Carolyn was a member of the D.A.R. for over 60 years, Treasurer for the Faneuil Hall - Old State House Chapter and a member of the Massachusetts D.A.R. Ex - Regents Club.She also had been very active in the FISH Organization and AARP for many years.
Mrs. Norton was the beloved wife of the late Hibbert L. Norton.Devoted mother of Arthur G. Norton and his wife Bette Jean of Maynard.Dear sister of the late William J. McLean.Cherished grandmother of Christopher Norton of Berlin and Marissa Norton of Maynard.Loving aunt of Garf McLean of Wakefield, Robert D. McLean, William J. McLean both of NH.
