Catherine C. "Kitty" Drummond

Catherine C. (Langmuir) "Kitty" Drummond, a resident of Winchester and formerly of Wellesley, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at age 90.

Catherine was born in Glasgow, Scotland, one of five children born to Christina Galloway and Andrew Langmuir. She was raised and educated in the Drumoyne Square section of Glasgow. At the age of 27 she took a leap of faith and followed her soon to be husband, James Drummond to the United States. They immigrated to Detroit where they were married and lived for several years. James was employed as a mechanical engineer and his work brought them to Detroit, Philadelphia and finally to the Boston area where they settled in Wellesley in the late 1960's.

In her free time, Kitty stayed active with her church, with her family and had several lifelong passions. She had an appreciation for nature, flowers and in particular, a love for birds. She was a prolific knitter, loved cooking, and enjoyed numerous arts and crafts. Kitty loved spending time with her family in Rockport, Massachusetts and Mt. Desert Island in Maine. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, James to Europe and the Caribbean. Kitty had an irrepressible zest for life; she was always ready for a song and loved to dance!

Kitty was committed to her church, Christ Church in Wellesley. Through her active participation, she contributed to many events and fundraisers. She made many friends and kept those relationships close to her heart. After moving to The Gables in Winchester, her dedication to her faith continued at Crawford Memorial Methodist Church.

Kitty was a fun loving, enthusiastic and warm person who was full of life. She cherished her time with her family and will be fondly remembered by those who knew her.

Kitty was the beloved wife of the late James M. Drummond with whom she shared years of marriage.Devoted mother of Katherine A. Lew and her husband Russell of Long Beach, CA, Iain A. Drummond and his wife Robin Snyder-Drummond of Melrose, and Alastair J. Drummond of Melrose. Dear sister of Christine MacKay of Milngavie, Scotland, and the late Margaret Mowat, James Langmuir, and Thomas Langmuir. Also survived by 4 cherished grandchildren, and extended family in Scotland.
