Catherine (Hogan) Glassman, resident of Medford, and former longtime resident of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at a Woburn healthcare facility. She was 88 years old.
Catherine was born on August 26, 1933 in Somerville, one of four children of the late Patrick C. and Delia (Sweeney) Hogan. She grew up in Somerville graduating from Somerville High School. In her youth, Catherine and her twin sister Helen traveled to New York City to perform in Irish Dancing shows.
Catherine was the beloved wife of Burton (Burt) S. Glassman, with whom she was married to for 64 years. They were married on January 6, 1957 and settled in Somerville to raise their family of three.
Catherine or “Cat” as Burt affectionately named her, was a proud homemaker. She adored her three children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was exceptionally active in their lives. She enjoyed having family cookouts, putting music on and dancing with her children, and was also an avid reader.
Cat and Burt enjoyed spending time at Wells Beach, Drakes Island Beach in Maine, and going for walks along the trails on the Charles and Mystic River, and caring for her dogs which she so dearly loved.
Cat’s loving presence and caring heart will be missed by all.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Burton S. Glassman. Devoted mother of Ellen M. Parisi and her husband Paul of Medford, Karen A. Elia of and her husband Bob of SC, and Steven P. Glassman and his wife Sara of Northborough. Dear sister of Rita Russo and her late husband Tony of Salem, and the late Helen Moschella and Charles Hogan. Loving grandmother of Christopher, Melissa, Krista, Steven, Jeffrey, Michael, Jessica, and great-grandmother of Cole, Brynn, Hayes, Caden, Brock, Brody, and Brooklyn. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives & friends are invited to gather in honor of Catherine’s life for a visiting hour at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 9-10am followed by her Funeral Service at 10am at the funeral home. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Catherine’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
