Charles E. Dady
Charles was born in Boston on May 15, 1927, a son of the late Arthur Dady and Mary E. (Kilcourse) Dady.He was raised in Boston and graduated as valedictorian of his class from Miramar High School.He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.He graduated from Boston University with a B.A. Degree in Chemistry and attended Boston College and Vanderbilt University Graduate Schools for Nuclear Chemistry.On August 27, 1949, he married Oleda T. Wood, and they embarked on a life of love and happiness centered around their 11 children.
Mr. Dady worked in the U.S. Army Civil Service as a Nuclear Chemist.He worked in various capacities over the course of his 34-year career and received several distinguished honors and awards.He worked at the Watertown Arsenal as a Radiological Safety Officer and ascended to the position of Chief of the Radiological Program. Gifted with a mind for chemistry, Charles owned a patent for nuclear reactors, was invited to inspect the safety of nuclear industry in China, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the New England Health Physics Society.He served as a member of the U.S. Army's Reactor Safety Expert List, and was certified by the American Board of Health Physics in 1971.
Mr. Dady was a devoted parishioner at St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham.But above all else, he was a faithful family man who cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was the dearly loved husband of Oleda. T. (Wood) Dady with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.Devoted father of Diane Dady-Goldstein and her husband Allan of Wakefield, John A. Dady and his wife Ginny of Merritt Island, FL, Maryanne Taylor and her husband Peter of Derry, NH, Charles E. Dady, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Peabody, Theresa Dady-Cox and her husband Kitt of Gloucester, Kevin W. Dady of Reading, Paul R. Dady of Reading, Michele Dady-Ukraine and her husband John of Rockport, Kristen F. Dady of Reading, and his beloved late twin sons.Loving brother of Arthur Dady of Cambridge, Claire Johnson of FL, Ruthie Morello of Newton, Olive Tibbets of GA, Paul Dolson of CT, and the late Walter Dolson.Cherished grandfather of Naomi, Noah, Nadia, Shawn, Alisha, Natalie, Michael, Rebekah, Jessica, Christine, Ryan, Bradley, Myles, Michaela, Quinn, Benan, Sophia, Madelyn, and Luke.Loving great-grandfather of Owen, Eli, Nevaeh, Nolan, Elle, Damali, Delilah, Alexi, Joshua, and Noah.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Charles' life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, December 28 from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday at 9:00 AM before leaving in procession to St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment on Monday with military honors presented by the US Navy at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.Gifts in his memory may be made to the Friends of Sanborn Place, 50 Bay State Rd., Reading, MA 01867.
