Mr. Charles V. Winam, Jr. of Melrose died Wednesday February 11, 2004 in the VA Hospital Bedford after a lengthy illness.
Born August 10, 1914 in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late Charles V. and Helen T. (Flattery) Winam. Charles was a resident of Melrose for over 55 years.
He was a Clerk at the United States Postal Service where he worked for 25 years until his retirement.
He was a communicant at Most Blessed Sacrament Church where he also sang in the Choir and was active with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the VFW Norman Prince Post and the Post Office Band.
Mr. Winam was a WW II Army veteran and held the Rank of Private First Class.
Husband of Janet M. (Janiak) Winam. Father of Ellen Magliaro of Melrose, Kathleen Croce of Gloucester, Joan Desmond of Raymond,NH, David P. Winam of Newport, RI and the late Stephen Winam. Also survived by 12 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
