Mr. Clarence "Murray" Stanley Jr. a 56 year resident of Melrose and retired Fire Chief for the City of Melrose died at his home on Saturday evening with his loving family at his bedside. He was 81 years old.
Clarence or "Murray" as he was affectionately known to many was born on June 24, 1928 in Somerville, a son of the late Clarence M. Stanley Sr. and Ethel P. (Long) Stanley.
Murray was raised in Somerville and Malden.He graduated from Malden High School and served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He was a brick mason, a trade he learned from his father at a very young age.Murray was a firefighter for the City of Melrose from 1962 to 1992 and served as Chief from 1989 to his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Lt. Norman Prince VFW Post #1506 in Melrose. Above all else, Murray will be rememberedfor his love for fishing and as adevoted family man.
Stanley was the beloved husband of Jeannette C. (Poole) Stanley with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.Loving father of Jane C. Pascucci and her husband Ambrose of Revere and P. Lynn Routhier and her husband Michael of Salem, NH.Dear brother of the late Norma V. Heylmun. Cherished grandfather of Ambrose Pascucci of the North End, Carlo Pascucci of Revere, Benny Carrasco of Melrose and Derek Carrasco and his wife Amy of Lawrence.Cherished great grandfather of Isabel Carrasco of Lawrence.Also survived by Anne and Charlie Bennett and their children,Megan and John Bennett all of Melrose and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose.Services and interment with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery will be private.Late US Army WWII veteran.
