Mr. Claudio Eurici, a Melrose resident for over 40 years, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, at age 84.
Claudio was born on February 23, 1928 in Marsala, Italy, one of two sons of the late Salvatore D'Amico and Francesca (Pellegrino) D'Amico.He was raised on the island of Sicily and moved to the United States in 1954 with his beloved wife, Antonina.They made their home in Melrose while Claudio worked as a self-employed painter.Claudio was a family man first, but was also passionate about several of his interests.
He loved playing cards with family and friends, and also built an incredible garden outside his home on Franklin Street.He grew nearly every vegetable including tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, basil, eggplants, string beans, and all varieties of peppers.Many people as they passed by the house stopped to admire the many plants and vegetables he was growing.He also enjoyed hunting, fishing on Plum Island, and loved eating seafood.
A big hearted man, Claudio was always kind and compassionate and treated his family like gold.He was an especially loving "Nonno" to his two granddaughters, and cherished his wife and two children.
He was the beloved husband of Antonina (Barraco) Eurici with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.Cherished father of Francesca M. Eurici of Melrose and Salvatore P. Eurici of Melrose.Dear brother of Gaspare D'Amico of Italy. Devoted grandfather of Brianna B. and Isabella J. Eurici.Also survived by several nieces and a nephew.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Claudio's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, November 16 from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday morning at 9 AM before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM.
