Mrs. Concetta "Connie" (Gilomo) Aufiero, a resident of Melrose, passed away on Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2009 at her home with her loving family at her bedside. She was 84 years old.Mrs. Aufiero was born on June 15, 1925 in Boston, one of three daughters of the late Luigi Gilomo and Lucia (Brogna) Gilomo.
Concetta Aufiero, or "Connie" was raised in the North End of Boston and worked as a secretary at Massachusetts General Hospital.In 1946 she married her late husband Americo A. "Ricky" Aufiero who passed away in 1978.She had been a Melrose resident for 35 years.In her spare time she loved cooking.She was the beloved wife of the late Americo A. "Ricky" Aufiero with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Linda A. Pytlak of Melrose.Dear sister of Elizabeth Cerasuolo of Medford and the late Lorraine T. Canova.Loving sister-in-law of Joseph P. Canova of Saugus and the late Tony Cerasuolo.Cherished grandmother of Michael J. Pytlak and his wife Nicole of Melrose and great-grandmother of Benjamin M. Pytlak and Ethan C. Pytlak.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Wednesday, September 16 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor of Connie's life at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.Entombment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.Gifts in her memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham 01701 or to St. Anthony's Shrine, 100 Arch St., Boston 02110.
