Constance "Connie" Baumgartner, longtime resident of Amesbury, and formerly of East Boston, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 with her family by her side.She was 88.
Born in Boston on October 5, 1931, Connie was one of four children of the late Tom and Antonia (nee Famolare) Console.She grew up in Boston and got married to the late Philip Baumgartner in 1955.
Connie and Philip settled in East Boston and started their family.Connie worked as a lunch monitor at the Curtis Guild Elementary School.When she turned 50, Connie completed a training program and received her CNA certification.She went to work at Columbus Nursing Home, in East Boston where she worked for many years.She loved being a nurse's assistance and her job brought her much happiness and many wonderful memories of all the patients she cared for.
While her work as a nursing assistant brought her joy, true fulfillment came from her family.She was exceptionally active in her son's life and stayed close with him through the years.She enjoyed travelling, especially to Foxwoods for a night or two, or a day trip to East Boston to see the old neighborhood.If she was with her family, any trip was a good trip.
Other interests include WWII, Clarke Gable and Humphry Bogart films, and her love of cooking.She also was a huge animal lover and enjoyed holidays with her friends Michelle and Rob.
Connie's warmth, love, and generous spirit will be missed.
Connie was the former wife of the late Philip Baumgartner.Devoted mother to John Baumgartner and his wife Marie of Amesbury.Loving sister of the late Benjamin, Dickie, and Angelo Console.Also survived by dear friends Michelle and Rob Spadafora and their children Shane and Caitlyn. Connie's dear friend, Geraldine Dicillio greeted her in Heaven with open arms.
In accordance with current public health regulations, services will be private with a celebration of life being held later.
