Cynthia G. (Bacon) “Cindy” Silva, a nearly lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the ones who loved her most on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was 74 years of age.
Cindy was born in Malden on January 19, 1950, the daughter of the late Howard M. Bacon and Marion P. (Hargreaves) Bacon. Raised in Melrose, she was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1968. Cindy worked in clerical accounting positions for many years, and operated a home day care for 18 years.
Strong, self-reliant and courageous, Cindy was the fierce but loving protector of her family, especially her beloved children. She never missed an event for her young children, and continued providing strong and loving support into adulthood. Always spontaneous, Cindy’s adventurous spirit pulled everyone together for fun outings and laughter together. Cindy’s happiest family memories centered around the special coastline of Bailey Island in Maine where generations of her family gather. Whether exploring the Maine coast, swimming in the cold waters, or soaking up the sun, Cindy loved it all as long as her family was there too.
A drama student in high school, Cindy enjoyed attending Broadway shows, and forever wanted to be a Rockette! She also enjoyed watching figure skating, and later in life enjoyed her time gardening. Cindy loved baking sweets, especially her famous whoopie pies that were beloved by her family, and passionately supported her Red Sox and Patriots teams.
Cindy’s strength, sarcasm and sense of adventure will be deeply missed, but her unrelenting dedication to family will carry on as her legacy. May she rest in eternal peace.
Cindy was the beloved wife of Joseph P. Silva. Devoted mother of Michelle Rauseo of Saugus, Jessica Faragi of Saugus, Evan Silva of Melrose, and the late Aislin Silva. Loving grandmother of Madelynne and Grant Leonard. Caring sister-in-law of Francine McManus of Winthrop, and former daughter-in-law of Evelyn Faragi.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather in honor of Cindy’s life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Sunday, July 14 from 2-5pm, and for her Funeral Service at Trinity Episcopal Church, 131 W. Emerson St., Melrose on Monday, July 15 at 10am.
