Daisy M. (Kelly) Mcbride

Mrs. Daisy M. (Kelly) McBride of Stoneham, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Beaumont at Northbridge, at age 99.

Born on January 3, 1922 to the late Alice (Werner) and James Kelly, she was raised and educated in Anderson, South Carolina. While working at Western Union in Georgetown, SC, she met her future husband, James L. McBride, while he was sending a telegram back to his family in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Soon after, they relocated together toChelsea, and were married on June 20, 1944. After starting a family, they settled in Melrose to raise their five children.

Daisy always kept busy, especially with her hands which never stopped. After raising her family, she loved knitting, crochet, cooking and gardening. Ever resourceful and self-reliant, she did much of the painting and housework herself, and maintained her independence through most of her life. She loved to travel to Pennsylvania, Maine and New Hampshire to see family and often returned to her roots in South Carolina for family reunions. In her younger years, she found genuine friendships through her weekly candlepin bowling outings with the "bowling girls." Later in life, she enjoyed staying busy with crafts, crossword puzzles, and word search games.

Daisy was a lifelong caretaker by nature, and throughout her life offered her easy compassion and kind heart to anyone in need. Sweet, caring and sociable, Daisy never encountered a baby without offering a smile and kind word. Even when residing in assisted living herself, she found ways to support those around her. Daisy will be deeply missed, but her enriching, long life and unconditional love will carry on as inspiration to generations of her family.

She was the beloved wife of the late James L. McBride with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Jayne Robblee and her husband Donald, Michael McBride and his wife Patricia, Alice Denger and her husband Brian, Timothy J. McBride, and Ellen C. Barry and her husband Charlie. Cherished grandmother of Julie Robblee, Elizabeth McBride, Rachel Tromblee and her wife Brittany Tromblee, Patrick Denger, Lori Shaw and her husband Leon Shaw, Ryan Metivier and his wife Dina, and the late Matthew Denger. Caring great-grandmother of Jada, Devin, Olivia, Chloe, and Wyatt.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 3-7pm, and again on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 10am before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield for her Funeral Mass celebrated at 11am.
