Mr. Daniel A. Burns, a long time Melrose resident, died on April 2, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford.He was 51 years old.
Daniel or "Danny" as he was affectionately known was born in Chelsea on June 24, 1958.He was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1976 and took classes in computer training at the Computer Learning Center in Malden.For 10 years, he worked at Sunguard Financial in Waltham and Bedford and more recently had worked as a technical operations engineer at Vestmark Inc. in Wakefield.
Danny was involved with many clubs and organizations in Malden.He was a member of the Malden Elks Club, Italian American Citizens Club, the Hibernians Club, Irish American Club.He was also a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in Wakefield and a longtime member of the 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps of Revere.In his youth, he played both softball and hockey at the amateur level.Danny enjoyed all types of music and will be remembered for his love of playing the electric guitar.
Danny was the beloved fiancé of Jo-Ann Bishop of Melrose.Devoted son of Robert A. Burns of Melrose and the late Frances L. (Bulman) Burns.Loving brother of Kenneth R. Burns and Ashley M. Phillips both of Melrose.Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Tuesday, April 6 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in Danny's honor at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
