Mr. Dante "Danny" Mariani, of Malden and formerly of Everett, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, at the age of 89.
Dante, who was lovingly known as "Danny" was born on October 16, 1923, one of four children of the late Sabatino Mariani and Carina (DiBenedetto) Mariani.Raised and educated in East Boston, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class.For over 45 years, Danny worked in chemistry for Boston Gas Company.
A devout man, Mr. Mariani lived his faith every day.While living in Malden, he was a daily communicant at St. Mary's Church in Revere, and later at Immaculate Conception Church in Everett for many years.
Danny loved to eat.He was always eating endless bowls of pasta, and never said "no" to his favorite sweets, including ice cream, cake, custard, and strawberry shortcake.He enjoyed eating more than cooking, but was willing to help as long as it involved a big meal at the end.A good natured man, Danny will be lovingly remembered for always being happy and enjoying a good laugh.
Danny was the beloved husband of the late Louise (Benedetto) Mariani with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Cherished brother of Mary Stellato and her late husband Alfred V. Stellato of Revere, Emily R. D'Amico and her late husband Vincent D'Amico of Melrose, the late Edmund Mariani, Dominic Mariani, Jennie DeFlice, Peter Mariani, Samuel Mariani, Louis Mariani, Albert DiNicola, Etterina DiNicola.Loving uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Danny's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, November 1 from 4-8 PM and again on Friday at 8:45 AM before leaving in procession to the Immaculate Conception Church, Broadway, Everett where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment with military honors by the US Army in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
