David P. Jenney

David P. Jenney, 79, of Melrose, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Seaview Retreat in Rowley.

David was born on January 19, 1939 in North Reading to Kenneth and Margaret (Dulong) Jenney.David grew up in Reading, graduating from Reading High School, Class of 1957.While in school, David acquired a love of sports, and excelled in football, basketball, and track.He also participated in numerous softball leagues.

David served in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1956.He went to work for Atlantic Gelatin, which became Kraft Foods, where he worked as a Machinist and Production Line Supervisor, and also served as the Union Representative for many years.

A very friendly man, David enjoyed frequent walks around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield. He enjoyed striking up a conversation with friendly strangers.He was generous person, and he showed his love through such generosity.Other hobbies that David enjoyed were coin collecting, and cheering on his Boston Teams, with his favorites being the Red Sox, and Patriots.

David's friendly demeanor will be greatly missed by his family.

David is the proud father of Colleen Trentsch of Saugus, Cheryle Ennis of Middleton, and Lisa Fougere of Pawleys Island, SC.Loving brother of Steven L. Hubbard and his wife Linda C. Mitchell of Naples, ME., Dorothy Gallagher and her husband Chris of Northwood, NH., Rachael Hubbard of Marlton, NJ., the late Karen Kindig, and Robert K. Jenney.Also survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of David's life for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, Jan. 4 from 9-10am, and for his Funeral Service celebrated at 10am. Interment at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
