David E. Morris

David E. Morris, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at age 86.

Born in Everett on August 22, 1935, David was the son of the late Mary (Curran) and Edward Morris. He was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. David matriculated to Notre Dame University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, and became a lifelong ND football fan. In 1962, he married Norma J. Rauseo, started a family and settled in Melrose.

After receiving his Master's in Accounting from Bentley University, David began a career in the accounting field in the Boston financial industry. After a long and successful career, he retired as Controller for George Dean & Co. in Boston.

David was a member of the Eagle's Men's Club in Malden for many years, and later the Arlington Men's Club. He was a longtime supporter of the Fighting Irish, and passionately supported his ND football team. He was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan, and enjoyed playing golf. For many years, David and family spent time on Cape Cod in Harwich where he enjoyed playing golf at Cranberry Valley. In his free time, David loved fishing, playing cards, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.

After retiring, David and Norma traveled extensively throughout the world, visiting Europe many times, and across the United States.

David was one of the most kindhearted, gentle people anyone could meet. He helped many people with his generosity, and genuine willingness to help. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered for the positive impact he made on those around him.

David was the beloved husband of Norma J. (Rauseo) Morris with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Devoted father of Paul E. Morris of E. Haven, CT, and Karyn A. Morris-Devine and her husband Billy of W. Yarmouth. Loving grandfather of Alison R. Morris, Caitlyn A. Adams and her husband Stephen, Brian David Penney, and Colette R. Morris.
