Mr. David Hume Paul, age 93, of Peabody, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully at home at Brooksby Village on Monday, January 25, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, boss, golfer, carpenter, and veteran, with a tremendous sense of personal honor.
Born on September 14, 1922 in Melrose, he was the only son of the late Howard and Lois (Hume) Paul. David is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edith "Dee Dee" (Studer) Paul and their three children, MacGregor "Mac" Paul of Durham, NC, Laurie Brustlin of Campton, NH and Barbara Bellotti and her husband, Peter Bellotti, of Winchester. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Scott Paul, Kelly and David Brustlin and Peter, Bobby and Jeffrey Bellotti, and one great-granddaughter, Adalyn.
David was a proud graduate of the US Naval Academy, Class of 1945 and a 33-year company man with Norton Company based in Worcester, MA. During his long career, he worked in sales and marketing for the industrial manufacturing firm in many locations across the country. He was respected and revered by all who worked with him. In addition to his family and his career, Dave's greatest passion was golf. He epitomized what makes golf the unique game it is: discipline, focus, grace and most important, honesty and integrity.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Service to celebrate his life and the 70 plus years that Dave and Dee Dee shared together at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody on Saturday, February 6 at 11AM. Military honors by the US Navy will be presented in recognition of his patriotism and service during WWII and Korea.
