Mrs. Diana C. (Murray) Humphreys, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 29, 2013 at the age of 75.

Mrs. Humphreys was born on June 24, 1937 in Brewer, Maine, one of six children of the late Cecil P. and Norma E. (Leadbetter) Murray.When she was 4 years old, they came down from Maine and she was raised in Medford.After graduating from Medford High School, she married Frederick H. Humphreys on October 7, 1956 and they settled in Melrose to raise a family.While Fred worked at his family record store in Cambridge, Diana raised their three children and worked various jobs over the years.After they had grown, Diana worked at UniFirst in Wilmington for 11 years.

Mrs. Humphreys was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and Kappa Delta Psi.She enjoyed working at the Kappa Swap Shop for many years.In her leisure time, Diana loved sewing, travelling, doing puzzles, watching crime shows on TV, and boating on Lake Winnipesauke aboard the "Diana C."She was also a very enthusiastic supporter of the Boston sports teams.

She will be remembered as the beloved wife of Frederick H. Humphreys with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Susan E. Beckford of N. Andover, Paul O. Humphreys of Saugus and his companion Jane Flaherty of N. Reading, and Allen F. Humphreys of Melrose.Dear sister of Karen Clary of Farmington, ME, Kent Murray of Tewksbury, Wendy Coleman of Saco, ME, and the late Donna Auld, and Gloria Corbett.Cherished grandmother of Keith Berry and his wife Leah, Heather Cook and her husband David, Christopher Berry, Alexander Humphreys, and Erica Humphreys.Loving great-grandmother of Miller, Lilah, Benjamin, Lindsey, and Aiden.Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will honor and remember Diana's life by gathering at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose during visiting hours on Monday, April 1 from 4-8PM, and for her Funeral Service at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose celebrated on Tuesday at 10AM.

Gifts in her memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
