Donald E. "Don" Garron

Donald E. "Don" Garron, longtime Malden resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.He was 84.

Don was Born in Malden, one of eight children of the late Thomas and Irene (Broussard) Garron.Growing up in Malden, Don was very close with his brothers and sister, and it was a closeness that continued all throughout their lives.He developed a love of sports at an early age, and enjoyed sports throughout his life.

Don served honorably in the Army National Guard in the late 50's and early 60's.He went to work for Commerce Rubber and then the McFadden Manor in Malden where he worked for many years.

Outside of work, Don coached Baseball in the Malden Babe Ruth League for a number of years, and also was a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts, and became a Ranger at Camp Nihan.He enjoyed going bowling, watching his beloved Red Sox and Bruins, reading his favorite John Grishom or Tom Clancy novels,taking a trip to Nantasket Beach, and playing cards with his brothers and friends.

Don was a kind hearted and loyal gentleman.He always had a kind word to say about everyone, and he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.He loved his family, they loved him, and will miss him greatly.

Don was the devoted father of Roger Shields and his partner Denise of Billerica. Loving brother of Irene Raymond of Sanford, ME., Dick Garron and his wife Patty of Windham, NH., Robert Garron and his late wife Lena of Danvers, the late Jack Garron, Bill Garron, James Garron, and Paul Garron. Proud grandfather "grumpy" of Nicholas and Christopher Shields. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Don's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 4-8pm, and again on Friday for his Funeral Service celebrated at 10am. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Donations in Don's memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO box 14301, Cincinnati, OH. 45250.
