Donald D. Morrison, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on July 17, 2012, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, at the age of 79.
Don was born on April 29, 1933 in Marsboro, Quebec, one of two sons of the late Ewen P. Morrison and Esther (Fellows) Morrison.He was raised and educated in Littleton, New Hampshire, and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.After returning home, he began working in the insurance industry and while working met his future wife of 36 years, Maureen. They married on January 30, 1976 in Malden at St. Joseph's Church, lived in Malden, and eventually settled in Melrose.Don worked for the New England Life Insurance Co. for over 40 years as an Insurance Consultant.For many years, Don lived in Back Bay, Boston.
A responsible man, Don was always on the lookout for things to do around the house.He enjoyed fixing anything he could find, looking after the pool, and above all else, loved shoveling snow.He also enjoyed listening to country music, being an avid New York Yankees fan, and his dogs, Shauna, Casey and Molly.Don will always be remembered as family man who cherished his wife and two daughters.
He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Collins) Morrison with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.Devoted father of Melissa Morrison of Melrose, and Jennifer Sullivan and her husband John of Melrose.Dear brother of the late Raymond Morrison.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Don's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, July 24 from 5-7 PM followed by his Funeral Service celebrated at 7:00 PM.
