Mrs. Doris E. Corbin, a longtime Melrose resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center, at age 93.
Doris was born on February 15, 1918 in Fort Fairfield, Maine, a daughter of the late Katherine Smith.She lived in Melrose for many years with her husband, Roy, where they raised two daughters.A woman of the Depression, Doris was a hard working homemaker who cared greatly for her family.She faced life with determination and even when difficult, always had a smile on her face.
Mrs. Corbin enjoyed being a wife and mother.She looked forward to her yearly Michigan voyages where her family lived to visit her daughter and grandchildren.
Doris was the beloved wife of the late Leroy N. Corbin with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Kathleen D. Pitts and her husband Richard of Melrose and Rose Cokewell of Clawson, MI.Cherished grandmother of Mark Pitts of Wakefield, Kenneth Pitts of PA, and Rose Diane Turner, Cynthia Durand, David Cokewell, Paul Cokewell, and Christine Borowicz, all of MI.Also lovingly survived by 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will honor Doris by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday morning where her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:30 AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
