Dorothy Arakelian

Dorothy J. "Dolly" Arakelian, resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 84.

Dolly was was born in Boston on February 26, 1941, one of five children of the late Jacob and Mary (Pasquariello) Arakelian. She grew up in Everett, and then started her career at various insurance companies before dedicating many years of her life to Bank of America. It was there where she formed lifelong friendships, creating bonds that would last well beyond her retirement.

A proud sports enthusiast, Dolly had an unwavering love for the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. Her passion for these teams was rivaled only by the love she had for her family. Dorothy's kindness, loyalty, and infectious spirit made her a cherished friend to many, and her presence will be deeply missed.

In our hearts, Dolly will remain forever a source of laughter and love. May she rest in peace.

Dolly was the beloved mother of Raven Drake of New Mexico. Loving sister of Virginia A. Petruzzelli and late husband Sebastiano of Malden, Carolyn Seracuse and husband Louis of Malden, Beatrice Giannelli and husband Louis of Everett, Richard Arakelian and wife Noreen of Billerica, and Anthony Arakelian of Carefree, AZ. Loving Aunt of Linda DeSaltorie and husband Tony, Lisa Clemons and husband Greg, Liana Petruzzelli, Joseph and wife Marla, Michael, John, Mark, and Stephen Cantone, and Jacqueline Cote and husband Alan. Also survived by her lifelong friend Nicholas Moccia of Malden.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Dolly's life during a Visiting Hour at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Monday, April 7 from 10:30-11:30am where her Funeral Service will be held at 11:30am. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
