Mrs. Dorothy (Lowman) Green, 79 of Stoneham, died Saturday night, September 2, 2006 in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston after a short illness. She was 79 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Warren I. "Bud" Green; her children, Geoffrey W. Green and his wife Sharron of Winthrop, Maine, Joely Green and her fiance Michael Morrison and Joyce G. Waterhouse and her husband Mark, all of Derry, New Hampshire. She leaves five grandchildren, Sarah and Stephanie Green, Kaeley Pinkham, Brian and Sam Waterhouse. Her siblings, Wayne, William, Richard and Virginia Lowman and Helen Nevins all predeceased her.
Dorothy was born March 21, 1927 daughter of the late H. Meade and Mildred M. (Coulter) Lowman. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree from University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a Master's degree in Cytotechnology from University of Rhode Island.
Mrs. Green worked as a Cytotechnologist at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen and was still working part-time. Previously, she had worked 10 years at the Division of Comparative Medicine at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Her professional memberships included the American Society for Cytotechnology, Massachusetts Cytology Society, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and College of American Pathologists. She was an active member of the Highlands Congregational Church in Melrose where she sang in the choir for years as an altosoloist.
The great loves of her life were her family, her music, and her work as a cytotechnologist.
