A. Douglas "Doug" Marcotti, Jr., age 57, a longtime resident of Melrose, died suddenly on Friday, April 7, 2012 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Cambridge on May 21, 1954, Doug was one of two children of Norma J. (Gradone) and Arthur D. Marcotti.He graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1972 and attended Boston University.Doug worked as a computer analyst for Forsyth Dental Center in Boston for 35 years.More recently, he worked as a concierge at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and in patient transport at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Doug was known for his great sense of humor and for his love of reading, music, gardening, writing, and talk shows.He cherished his family, and especially loved the time he spent playing with his two young grandchildren.
Doug was the beloved husband of Alison L. (Wetherbee) Marcotti with whom he shared nearly 33 years of marriage.Cherished son of Norma J. and Arthur D. Marcotti of Melrose.Devoted father of Keith D. Marcotti and his wife Amanda of Melrose, Andrea L. Marcotti of Melrose, and the late Michael J. "Mikey" Marcotti.Caring brother of Diane Bowen and her husband John of Stoneham.Dear son-in-law of Elizabeth Wetherbee of Melrose and the late Alfred D. Wetherbee.Loving grandfather of Ashlynne and Julian Marcotti of Melrose.Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Doug's life for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, April 12 from 4-8 PM and again on Friday morning at 9:00 AM before leaving in procession to St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.Gifts in honor of Doug may be made to the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund, c/o Doug & Michael Marcotti Family Fund, PO Box 760695, Melrose, MA 02176.
