Edward J. Harrison, Jr., of Saugus, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 26, 2023 with family by his side. He was 86 years old.
He was born in Somerville, MA on May 31, 1936 the only child of the late Edward Joseph Harrison Sr. and Rose (Capriulo) Harrison. A graduate of Somerville High School he lived most of his life in Saugus.
He served in the United States Army. A proud Veteran he remained patriotic and thoughtful about his service and other veterans.
Eddie worked as a machinist at various employers in the Boston area.
Eddie loved gardening, dancing, Broadway, music, movies, and sports, and faithfully followed his beloved Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots teams. He enjoyed international travel and in recent years took vacations to Greece and Italy. He enjoyed trips to Chatham, Nantucket, Vermont, New York City and California as well as Alaska. He was a longtime volunteer at various local food pantries.
His laughter and joy will be missed. His smile and love for life lit up every room.
He leaves his daughters, Julie Harrison Mullany, and her husband, Terry, and Jill Harrison and her husband, David Crisafi; his five grandchildren, James Mullany, Terry Mullany and Jack Mullany and Olivia and Erin Crisafi. He was also the longtime companion of Bettie Lane.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Eddie’s life during Visiting Hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, June 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 9th in Incarnation Church, 429 Upham St., Melrose, at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held Tuesday in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Because of cemetery restrictions regarding flowers and at the request of Eddie’s family please omit flowers.
