Eileen T. (deViller) Hallisey, a cherished mother, grandmother, friend, and devoted nurse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Forestdale Park Senior Living surrounded by her family. She was 93 years old.
Born on March 27, 1931 in Melrose, one of six children of the late Roger and Julia (Surette) deViller. Eileen was raised in Malden and was a proud graduate of Cheverus Catholic School and the Malden Hospital School of Nursing. From her birth through her teenage years, Eileen loved spending summers in Nova Scotia with her dear sister Andrea.
Her passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling 30-year career as a Registered Nurse, where she touched countless lives in pediatrics and the operating room at Malden Hospital, and later completed her career at McFadden Manor Nursing Home.
Eileen's strong Catholic faith and her unwavering dedication to her family were the cornerstones of her life. She married her beloved George L. Hallisey on August 23, 1958 at Sacred Hearts Parish, and together they raised their family in Malden. As a mother and grandmother, Eileen's warmth and humor illuminated every gathering, leaving lasting memories for those she loved.
Known for her strength, compassion, organization skills, and a wit that could brighten anyone's day, Eileen's legacy extends far beyond her nursing career. She delighted in baking treats for her family, knitting beautiful creations, and capturing precious moments through scrapbooking. She relished time spent at the beach, soaking up the sunshine and appreciating the beauty of the ocean. She enjoyed cheering on her beloved Red Sox, attending her first game at Fenway Park in 2004, and surely playing a part in breaking their 86-year World Series drought.
Eileen will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in those blessed to know and love her.
Eileen was the beloved wife of the late George L. Hallisey with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Kathleen A. Downey and her husband Kevin of Wakefield, Timothy G. Hallisey and his wife Darlene of Lynn, Richard D. Hallisey and his wife Theresa of Malden, Amy E. Hallisey-Pierce and her husband Mark of Melrose, and the late Paul E., Colleen M., and Daniel M. Hallisey. Loving aunt of Sherry Endicott. Dear sister of George T. deViller and his wife Juliana of Tewksbury, and the late Harvey Fitzgerald, Evelyn Fraughton, Zita Muise, and Andrea Miller. Cherished grandmother of Timothy, Katelyn, Joseph, Christina, Diana, Benjamin, and Stephen. Best friend of Doris Burgess and Agnes Harkness. A special thank you to Eileen's Forestdale Park Senior Living family for their love, friendship, and community.
Relatives & friends are invited to gather in honor of Eileen during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Sunday, Jan. 5 from 2-5pm, and again on Monday, Jan. 6 at 9:45am before leaving in procession to St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose for her Funeral Mass celebrated at 11am.
