Eileen M. (Gilbert) Perry, resident of North Reading, and formerly of Wakefield, peacefully departed this world on October 18, 2023, at her residence in North Reading. She was 98 years old.
Born on August 14, 1925, in Providence, RI, one of two children of the late Thomas and Florence Gilbert, Eileen's journey began in Attleboro, where she grew up and graduated from Attleboro High School, she embarked on a life dedicated to creating a nurturing home for her loved ones. Eileen's warm and affectionate nature shone through every aspect of her life, as she proudly embraced her role as a homemaker. After retirement, Eileen and Bob moved to North Carolina during the Winter and spent summers in Maine.
One of Eileen's fondest memories was spending summers in Denmark, Maine. It was in those serene surroundings that she discovered her love for the beauty of Maine, which remained steadfast throughout her life.
She was an active member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church. Reading books, the Boston Globe and bird watching were a few of her favorite things.
Sunday dinners after church were a cherished tradition, where family gathered to savor her delicious meals and bask in her calming presence. Eileen's culinary creations will forever remain a cherished memory for those fortunate enough to have tasted her love in every bite.
Throughout her life, Eileen cherished the moments spent exploring Bermuda and Block Island. These destinations held a special place in her heart, serving as a reminder of the peace and joy she found while traveling. Her greatest joys were visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the stories and pictures that were shared.
In her later years, Eileen's son, James, became her devoted caretaker. Alongside his faithful companion, Maddie, James provided unwavering support and comfort to Eileen. Their bond of love and dedication offered her solace and strength during her final years.
Eileen will forever be remembered as a beautiful soul who brought light, love, and tranquility into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love touched the hearts of many and will continue to be an inspiration to all.
Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Perry, Sr, with whom she shared 76 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Carol L. DeLacy and her husband Richard of Stoneham, Robert F. Perry, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Hampton, NH, Kimberly O’Brien and her husband Mark of Wakefield, James R. Perry of N. Reading, the late Susan Callahan, and the late Thomas W. Perry and his surviving wife Jeanette of Winchendon. Dear sister of Donald Gilbert and his wife Rosanne of Wilmington, NC. Cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
