Eleanor C. (Stumpf) "Ellie" Buckley, a resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at age 82.

Eleanor was born in Saugus, one of eight children of the late Howard C. Stumpf and Mary L. (Flaherty) Stumpf.She was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School.She worked for Henry's Catering in Malden at the Malden Moose Lodge as a waitress and bartender for over 50 years.Eleanor, lovingly known as "Ellie" became a fixture at the Moose.She was well known, made many friends at the Moose, and everyone enjoyed seeing her at their club functions.Sociable with a good sense of humor, Ellie also worked at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and became friends with many of the doctors and her coworkers in food service.She lived in Malden for many years, Melrose for several years, and later in life settled in Wakefield.Wherever she was, Ellie always made friends and enjoyed being around people.

Proudly independent and forever strong, Ellie was also a loving and caring person.She was always first to offer to help and made sure you remembered she was there to lend her support.Her simple needs included afternoon luncheons with her girlfriends to Spud's Restaurant or Applebee's or the 99.She was always honest with you and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

She was the devoted mother of John P. McKinnon of Revere. Beloved sister of Barbara Harmon of FL, Patricia "Honey" DiGiantomaso of Malden, Howard Stumpf of Malden, and the late Beverly Graham, Jacqueline Desjardin, Robert W. Stumpf, and Joanne M. Stretton.Cherished grandmother of Devon McKinnon and his wife Danielle of Everett, and Marisa McKinnon and her fiancé Anthony Papandrea of Revere. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Ellie's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, May 13 from 4-8 PM, and again on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM.
