Mrs. Eleanor C. (Spinney) Peavey, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2013 in Wakefield, at age 96.
Eleanor was born on March 14, 1917 in Eastport, Maine, one of two daughters of the late James and Charlotte (Ward) Spinney.She was a graduate of Everett High School and settled in Melrose with her family.She worked as an L.P.N. and a floral designer for several years.
Eleanor was a member of the Melrose Women's Club, Garden Club, Arts and Crafts Society, and the Women's Republican Club.She was the oldest living member of the Green Street Baptist Church in Melrose.
She was the beloved wife of the late Chester R. Peavey, Ret. Lt. Colonel US Army.She is survived by daughter Beverly, and son Dwight.She is predeceased by daughter MaryJane, and son Mark.Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
