Elizabeth C. "Betty" Bowditch
Elizabeth was born on March 16, 1918 in Melrose, one of two children of the late Herbert C. Bowditch and Edna May (Wilkinson) Bowditch.She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.After secretarial school, she began her 40-year working career at State Street Bank and Trust.Elizabeth, who was well known as "Betty" worked as the Executive Secretary for the President of the bank at one time.A working woman for much of her life, Betty found great pride in her profession and enjoyed her career.During her leisure time, she loved travelling, especially taking luxury cruises with her girlfriends.She was a great Red Sox fan, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Betty was the devoted sister of the late Edwin J. Bowditch.Loving aunt of Stephen Bowditch and his wife Sandra of Kent, WA, Susan Weber and her husband Greg of Auburn, ME, David Bowditch and his wife Judy Kelly of Bedford, and Christine Bowditch and her husband Paul Cady of Bethlehem, PA.Also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Betty's life by gathering for her Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose celebrated on Saturday, September 8 at 10 AM.Interment will follow in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
