Mrs. Elizabeth (Kovacs) Cserhalmi, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Genesis Wakefield Center.She was 91.

Elizabeth was born in Budapest, Hungary on November 25, 1926, one of two children of the late Janos and Elizabeth (Szalai) Kovacs.Raised and educated in Hungary, she was married to Nicholas Cserhalmi before immigrating to the United States at the age of 30. Elizabeth and Nicholas lived in Stamford, CT, and Lexington, MA, before settling in Melrose.

Elizabeth was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Melrose. She was also a regular attendee of the Milano Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bridge with friends.After the loss of Nicholas, she married fellow Melrose resident, the late Dr. Alfonso Mandrachia with whom she shared years of love and devotion.

Elizabeth loved her family and was very generous and supportive of them.She also dearly loved her cat, and enjoyed her Hungarian heritage which she always held close to her heart. She will be missed.

Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Alfonso Mandrachia, M.D., and the late Nicholas Cserhalmi. She also leaves a niece and nephew.

Relatives & friends are invited to gather in honor of Elizabeth's life at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose for her Funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, April 28 at 10am.
